ITU Family Newsletter
Presidental Activities
ITU President Marisol Casado was in Mexico last week for the ITU executive board
meeting. While there Marisol also met with PATCO and AIT. The focus of the discussion
was triathlon in the Pan American Games 2011. Marisol also met with Paschal Warlike,
President
of the Committee Organizer of the World Games Cali, 2013.
ITU Activities
The ITU Executive Board met in Mexico last week. The following details have been
released.

The ITU Age Group commission submitted its update the the executive board meeting.

Important Events Update
Please note the important changes to the following events.
1. Extremadura awarded first ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships.
2.
The first African event in 2010 has been confirmed. The 2010 Troutbeck ITU Triathlon
African Cup will
be held November 20th in Troutbeck, Zimbabwe.

2010 Ixtapa ITU Triathlon Pan American Cup
2010 Ixtapa PATCO Junior Triathlon Pan American Championships
2010 Guatape ITU Triathlon Pan American Cup and Iberoamerican Championships

Youth Olympic Games
Applications for Technical Officials for Youth Olympic Games Now Open
ITU is in the process of appointing the International Technical
Officials for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. ITU will follow
a different procedure from the previous Olympic Games.

Australia secures spots
The Australian duo of Ellie Salthouse and Michael Gosman
finished on top of the podium at the Oceania Youth Olympic Qualifier in
Canberra and secured a position for Australia on the start line in Singapore.

ITU Sport Development
The ITU Sport Development team has released details of the ITU Scholarship and Team
ITU programs for athletes and coaches, part of its Elite Athlete Development Program.
The primary objective of this project is to provide support, resources
and expertise to
Elite athletes from emerging/developing National
Federations to compete at an
international level and at the same time
increase the number of coaches from
emerging/developing National
Federations gaining experience in the preparation and
support of
athletes.

WADA Special Release
The ITU Anti-doping Team would like to announce that the World
Anti-doping Agency (WADA) has released a special issue of its flagship
magazine, Play True, outlining WADA's role at the upcoming Olympic and
Paralympic Winter Games.

ITU Recruits Triathlete Magazine Editor
The ITU Family is pleased to welcome Brad Culp to the ITU media team to fill the
second vacant Media Manager position.
Brad has been the editor of
Triathlete
Magazine for the past two years and brings with him a strong
journalistic background,
and vital industry experience and contacts.
Brad has also competed in over
80 triathlons
and will provide his insight and expertise in engaging the
general public, our high
performance athletes and age group triathletes in ITU events.
Brad will commence his
role in Vancouver from mid February alongside Masa Takaya.
