IOC Report from Marisol Casado
ITU President, Marisol Casado was selected by the IOC President to be
one of the presenters at the 13th Congress of the IOC in Copenhagen,
Denmark.The presentation by Marisol was part of the "Digital Revolution" theme and
focused on "A New Management of Sports Rights."

Rio Awarded 2016 Olympic Games
With the International Olympic Committee announcement that Rio de
Janeiro in Brazil will be the host city for the 2016 Olympic and
Paralympic Games, triathlon can look forward to returning a city and
country which is steeped in multisport history. "Following the great
sucess of the Pan American Games Triathlon on Copocabana Beach in 2007,
we anticipate seven wonderful years of world class sport on the Olympic
venue," said Loreen Barnett, ITU Secretary General from IOC Congress in
Copenhagen.

Crowie Backs Long Distance Champs
"It is fantastic news that Australia will again be hosting the ITU Long
Distance Triathlon World Championships, this time in Perth," he said.
"After winning a silver medal in Canberra in 2006, I would love to be
on the start line in Perth with an aim to go one better. The double
Olympic distance format is a true test and calls for a unique blend of
endurance, speed and tactical racing."

Cook Islands Host ITU Technical Course
The Pacific island nation of Cook Islands hosted the Oceania event
management and technical course which was run in conjunction with the
South Pacific Mini Games in Rarotonga.Throughout the four days the
course covered all aspects of officiating and managing elite triathlon
events, including senior rolls, expectations, media, health and safety and
responsibilities.

Paratriathlon: Jean Draper, USA
A car accident
four years ago meant that Jean Draper's right leg was amputated below the knee,
but this didn't hold her back. The 2009 New York Triathlon was her
first standard distance race and she finished third in the TRI5
division, qualifying her for the ITU World Championships on
Australia's Gold Coast where she took the bronze.

Pan American Long Distance Cancelled
The Colombian Triathlon Federation have announced that the 2009 Calima-Darient PATCO
Long Distance Triathlon Pan American
Championships, due to take place on 28 November, has unfortunately had to be cancelled
due to budget problems.
