World Cup Triple-Header
- the BG Triathlon World Cup series continues with stops in New Plymouth, New Zealand (April 6), Ishigaki , Japan (April 13) and Tongyeong , South Korea (April 26)

Olympic News
- Triathlon New Zealand is expected to announce the third and final selections to its men's and women's Olympic teams within the next week.
- Austria 's first Olympic qualifier of 2008 will be in New Zealand on April 6. Reigning Olympic gold medalist Kate Allen (AUT) is expected to open her 2008 season there
- U.S. Olympic trials will be held on April 19 in Tuscaloosa , Alabama . The top man and women will earn U.S. Olympic team spots.
- ITU will soon be announcing the IOC's selections for invitation spots into the men's and women's triathlon competitions at the Beijing Olympic Games
- Countries continue to jostle for positioning in ITU Olympic rankings. With three world cups in April a host of Olympic points will be on the line. Updated Olympic qualification simulations are available on the rankings page of triathlon.org .
Gomez's Podium Streak
- Javier Gomez (ESP) has made the podium in the last 14 consecutive world cup races he's entered. The last time he failed to podium was March 3, 2006 in Doha , Qatar . He looks to make it 15 straight in New Plymouth on April 6. On April 19, Gomez will head home to compete in the Pontevedra Premium European Cup, the first event of its kind in his hometown. TV Galicia will provide coverage of the race in Spain .
