SPEEDO NAGT Cebu

NAGT- ALEGRE BEACH RESORT, Sogod, Cebu. The shifting of SPEEDO National Age-group Triathlon Series Third leg from Danao City to Alegre Beach Resort in Sogod, Cebu proved to be a brilliant move by organizer Danao City Sports Commission head, Councilor Boying Rodriguez, as the race in a safer and more challenging and more scenic course was blessed by perfect weather and a record field (in the Visayas ) of 49 participants last Sunday.

Former National Champion Noel Salvador flashed his old form as he led all winners, ruling the 30-34 years category in 1 hour 20 minutes and 37 seconds.

His closest pursuer, former National Team member Alberto Biagan, (30-34) of Cebu checked in 14 minutes and 54 seconds later in the 1 kilometer swim, 30 km bike and 7.5 km run grind, Biagan's provincemates.

Former National member Gerry Calinawan (1:32:32), Dax Sarabosing (1:53:32), Ronaldo Biagan (2:01:15), Oliver Oliverio (2:38:36) and Jose Ricardo Dizon (2:07:10) emerged as gold medalists in the 20-24,25-29,35-39,45-49 and 50-54 years, respectively.

Aside from Salvador other winners from Bacolod City Jason Makelan (19 years and below),1:42:13 and Dr. Richie Yusay (40-44), 1:56:52 in the Event sponsored by Philippine Sports Commission, Danao City Telecoms, David Salon and Alegre Beach Resort .

Veteran Hong Kong Triathlete Ian Dacre who had helped triathlon development in the early stages in the country topped the 55 and over category in 2:29:11.

In the distaff side, Lorrie Echavez bagged the gold medal in the 20-24 yrs. Category with a time of 1:57:30.

Next stop of the NAGT series in Cagayan de Oro City on September 16.
