TRIAD chief urges triathletes to join Davao group
The new president of the Triathlon Association of Davao City (TRIAD) Marites Del Rosario appealed to all triathletes to join TRIAD to make the group "stronger and effective" in its noble task of promoting the sport and development of its triathletes in the region.
Del Rosario, one of only five female local sports leaders affiliated with the Davao City Sports Council, Inc. said she is inviting all bikers, swimmers and runners to join the coming National Age Group Triathlon Championships slated on March 18 in an out and back course at the Waterfront Insular Hotel and eventually become a member of TRIAD Davao.
"We hope to develop triathletes who can bring pride to Davao and be able to compete in the national championships in the future, if not in international event," del Rosario said.
Within the next two months, Del Rosario said her group will be coming out with a monthly training program (a project under TRIAD VP for internal affairs Lawrence Tiu) for all its members, to include long bike, run and swim aside from conducting health clinic to check on the physical capabilities and to promote awareness of the benefits in getting 'physical' through sports in organizing orientation seminars.
Del Rosario said that a get-together with TRAP president Tom Carrasco on MArch 16 is being planned with all its members.
