Abet reappears with a win!
Alberto “Abet” Biagan a former national triathlon team member reappears with an impressive win at the Cagayan de Oro Leg of the National Triathlon Age Group Leg organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP), Speedo and the Cagayan de Oro Triathlon Association, Inc. Abet covered the 1 km. swim, 30 km. bike and 7 km. run race with an individual time of 1hr, 32mins, and 32 seconds. The event was participated by strong contingents from Davao , Cebu, Iligan and Manila . The race was held at the Chali Beach Resort in Cagayan De Oro. The race was conducted without glitches within the city's beautiful four-lane highway with the support of Cagayan de Oro City local government thru Hon. Mayor Vicente Y. Emano, the city's Road and Traffic Administration through Atty. Ramon Tabor, Mr Oclarit and Mr. Yap . The race route went through the barangays of Gusa, Cugman, Tablon and Agusan.
The Catiil brothers, Neil and Vic, took first and second place in the 19 under category respectively. Other age group winners were 20-24 yrs. Joey Rana, 1 st and Gerry Calinawan, 2 nd ; 25-29 yrs. Edson Blanco, 1 st and Joshua Inciong 2 nd ; 30-34 yrs. Alberto Biagan 1 st and Roy Janubas; 35-39 yrs. Gregorio Borlongan 1 st and Edward Afurong 2 nd ; 40-44 yrs. Aldolfo Minoza 1 st and Wilson Lu 2 nd ; 45-49 yrs. Anastacio Bunal 1 st and Alejo Manaloto 2 nd ; 50-54 yrs. Antonio Arat 1 st and Jose Santos 2 nd ; and 55 and above Jaime Sindiong 1 st . Meanwhile, Joan Manaloto took first place in the women overall category.
The race's success was attributed to the efforts of Wilson Lu, the race director and support from Herbalife's Ms. Carol Jeung, the barangay chairpersons, Enrico Salcedo, Cerilla Jabiniao, Romeo Baccaro and Rety Yacapin.
