This race kicks off the 2005 Triathlon Program of TRAP. This is the first of 3 SEA Games qualifying races happening within the first half of 2005. With close to Php 500,000 of cash prizes and incentives for the top finishers and those who can break the national records in both the junior sprint and standard international distance triathlons, this is the richest national triathlon event ever staged by TRAP.

Start & Finish will be at the Southeastern end of the newly-constructed boulevard of Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, fronting the Sulu Sea.
RACE DISTANCE
Standard International Distance of 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run for Elite, Under 23, Age Groupers, and Clubs/Teams
Sprint Distance of 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run for Juniors (19 year old & under) and Beginners (20 years & older)
RACE COURSE DESCRIPTION
The swim leg will be held on expectedly calm and clear waters of Sulu Sea. Those doing the standard international distance will complete 2 loops around a rectangular-shaped swim course, on a clockwise direction (the buoy line will be at the right). The junior sprint triathletes will do just 1 loop on the same swim course.
The transition area (T1/T2) is located on the Southwest end of the city boulevard, about 200 meters from the swim start/finish line.
The bike course will be on well paved and flat city streets and national highway (slight uphill when approaching a bridge along the highway). 4 loops for the standard distance and 2 loops for the sprint distance.
The run will be on an out-and-back L-shaped course on the city boulevard and a city street. 3 loops for the standard distance and 2 loops for the sprint distance (the location of the turn around point will correspond to the respective run race distance).
The finish line is next to the transition area.

ITU Rules shall apply throughout the race, unless stated otherwise.
SWIM LEG Swim caps are required for all participants
BIKE LEG Approved bike helmets must be buckled on before mounting the bike and unbuckled not earlier than dismounting the bike. Drafting on fellow competitors is allowed for all waves and all categories. However, drafting on motorized vehicles, and female drafting on male and vice-versa are no allowed and are subject to time penalties or disqualification.
RUN LEG The issued race number bibs must be clearly visible at the front of every triathlete (may be pinned, sewn or installed on a race belt). Bare torso running is not allowed.
BODY MARKING will start at 5:30am on race day in or near the transition area (T1).
ROUTE FAMILIARIZATION will be held at 3pm, 29 January 2005. Meeting place will be at the Transition Area, Bayawan City Boulevard.
RACE BRIEFING will be held at the Bayawan City Hall Quadrangle at 5pm, 29 January 2005.
Issuance of race packets will end on 29 January 2005, Saturday, 5pm at the Bayawan City Administrators Office
INTER-CLUB COMPETITION RULES
A club or team can have a maximum of 5 triathletes, with at least 1 member a female. An all-female team is allowed.
The aggregate time of the 4 fastest team members, which include the time of at least 1 female teammate, shall be the team time.
All registered team members are automatically registered as individual competitors.
Rated /seeded triathletes (namely Arland Macasieb, Mark Yamoyam, Mikki Quilala, Eldy Banluta, George Vilog, Sandra Araullo, Ani De Leon, Alex Ganzon, LC Langit and Mimi Lucas) are not allowed to join the Club/Team Competition.
The Individual Race Rules also apply to all members of the team.
Team members must join their respective waves.
Even belonging to the same team, female members cannot draft (during bike leg) on their male teammates and vice-versa.
Deadline for submission of accomplished entry forms (with entry form of each member submitted at the same time) is up to 5pm of 20 January 2005.
Teams making a simple roster change after 20 January may do so by notifying TRAP on or before 12nn of Saturday, 29 January, subject to a fee of Php200 per changed team member.
CARBO DINNER & RACE BRIEFING
Hosted by the City Government of Bayawan (c/o Mayor German Sarana, Jr), to be held on 29th of December 2005, at 6pm, in front of the Bayawan City Hall.
AWARDING CEREMONIES
The awarding ceremonies will follow immediately after completion of the race at about 10:30am.
Brunch will be hosted by City Government of Bayawan (c/o Mayor German Sarana), and will be held near the transition area.

HOW TO GET TO BAYAWAN
Bayawan City can be reached from Manila by taking a plane ride to Dumaguete (the capital of Negros Oriental) via Cebu Pacific (daily flights at 12:35pm, 520am flights on M-W-F-Su) or Air Philippines (daily flights at 12:40pm, 5:45 am flights on T-Th-Sa); or taking a ferry trip via Super Ferry, etc. Upon arriving at Dumaguete, take a short taxi ride to the Ceres Bus terminal or van terminal in Dumaguete City. Ceres Buses leaves the terminal for Bayawan City every 20 minutes. Bus fare is P95. Passenger vans charges P85. Bayawan City is 101 kms from Dumaguete through well paves road. From Cebu City and Tagbilaran City (Bohol), Dumaguete can be reach by SuperCat available daily, with 2 trips per day. Travel time from Cebu to Dumaguete is about 3 hours. Visit www.supercat.com.ph for more information. Ceres buses from Cebu are also available.

UPDATE!!!!
City officials announced just now (January 28) that participants can avail of free stay at the Social Hall (Bayawan Tourism and
Culture bldg) which has about 50 beds and aircon. The brightly-painted building is near the Bayawan market.
